Arne Jacobsen Ant Chair, First Generation

The Ant Chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952. The teak plywood curve shaped like an ant's waist and the three thin steel legs keep the particular tension of the early three-legged version.
In having nothing left to remove, this chair speaks the same language as Joseon furniture. It sits beside a soban or a scholar's shelf without crowding either, and the deepened teak tone looks at ease next to persimmon-wood chests — which is exactly why GOBOKII slips it in among the antiques.
