Seoul Antique Guide — Dapsimni & Janganpyeong Antique Streets

서울 답십리·장안평 고미술 거리

Dapsimni and Janganpyeong in Seoul’s Dongdaemun-gu form Korea’s largest antique art district. From Joseon furniture to white porcelain, buncheong, folk paintings and small objects, it is a great starting point for first-timers and seasoned collectors alike.

Dapsimni Antique Street

Centered on the Dapsimni Antique Arcade, dozens of shops large and small gather here — from practical furniture like bandaji chests and soban tables to ceramics and calligraphy, at prices ranging from entry-level objects to fine masterpieces. Each shop has its own specialty, so it rewards a slow browse.

Janganpyeong Antique Street

Janganpyeong is close to Dapsimni and easy to visit together. Many dealers here handle furniture and larger pieces — recommended if you are looking for a statement piece for a space.

Visiting tips

· Many shops open on weekday afternoons; check hours before you go.
· Inspect a piece’s condition (repairs, restoration) in person, and ask about price politely.
· If it is your first time, start with small objects and build your eye.

This is the first antique guide presented by GOBOKII. It will expand to Insadong and streets in Daegu, Cheongju, Jinju and beyond.
