Wooden Seated Buddha with White Face

A seated Buddha carved from wood. The face was given a coat of white, with brows, eyes, and red lips painted in with care; black curls, a red jewel at the crown — humble, yet complete.

Where time has flaked the pigment, the wood grain flows around the body like the drape of a robe. The gentle face typical of folk Buddhas warms a room.
